The Bowel Chronicles
Your bowel movements (otherwise known as #2, stool, poop, feces) can provide you important information about your health, but people aren’t always comfortable talking about it. A bowel movement is what’s left of your food and drink after your body absorbs important nutrients. Your poop can tell you if you’re drinking enough water, eating enough fiber or if your digestive system is working properly. It can be a simple reflection of what you’re eating, but it can also provide signs of a health condition that’s more serious and needs attention. If there are changes you want to track over time and share with your doctor, you can use the Poop Tracker.
Wondering what’s normal?
Although everyone’s bowel movements are different,
there are a few normal characteristics.
Varying shades of brown are the most typical color of your stool, which is due to a combination of bile and bilirubin during the digestive process where these fluids mix with your foods.
